Parochial Church Council

PCC Annual General Meeting

SUMMARY REPORT

The AGM of Rusper PCC was held on Monday 27th April 2009 at 7.30pm in the Church. It was well attended be PCC members and a congregation representative.

Chairman’s Report: Nick reported a steady climb in numbers with a record attendance on Easter morning. Rusper & Colgate have been united for 10 years. This has been under Deanery review for some time and the draft report recognises the difficulties and makes suggestions for the future. 2008 highlights include the 200 Club, Little Angels and initiatives such as Face2Faith. A parish away day is planned for later this year. Thanks were expressed to all who support the church – particularly the churchwardens Martin Morris & Fiona Lear.

Treasurer’s Report: The accounts prepared by Hugh Taylor were presented. Financial year finished with small debit balance, an improvement of previous year- thanks passed to 200Club & Bazaar. The largest commitment on finances is the parish contribution (currently £64/day). The major expenses in 2008 were path and fencing repairs. Thanks expressed to Valerie Bowles and Judy Morris.

Churchwardens Report: Thanks were expressed for all those who enhance worship at Rusper including PCC committee members, Gerald Taylor, Bob Jamieson, Chris Collins, the choirs, bell ringers, florists, readers and cleaners. The fabric, goods and ornaments were reported on detailing the works carried over the previous 12 months (replacement of chancel roof, appointment of a new architect, central heating repairs, quinquennial inspection). Thanks were expressed to all those who helped at the maintenance events.

Matters Arising – Maintenance Work: Extensive work is required to the Church Tower as highlighted by the Quinquennial Inspection (renewing roof slate, lead covering, repointing and cleaning and repairing guttering). A resolution was unanimously passed to seek DAC permission and proceed with the work.

Election of Officers: The existing committee will continue in position: Chairman – Nick Flint, Secretary – Sarah Broadley, Treasurer – Hugh Taylor, Churchwardens – Martin Morris & Fiona Lear.
